We Were Not Born With Hate
I remember in the early years of my lifeHatred and bigotry reigned,
Now 60 years later we are in the same place
You can't help but feel the pain.
The pain of knowing that hatred is taught
From one generation to another,
We're not born with an ounce of hate
But we are taught to hate each other.
The one who keeps hate in your heart
Denies any chance to heal,
The hate just festers and goes on and on
So the bigotry we see is real.
Hatred comes in many forms
Police brutality is the one we see,
When hatred runs deep, it's what you can't see
That affects us internally.
If there is no love for the Lord in your heart
There's no where to even start,
The hate will only fester inside
And leave darkness in your heart.
Lord, I pray, for our nation needs help
To put love back in their heart,
Please demolish the spirit of hate everywhere
So healing can finally start.
