I Must Persist

I must persist in the goal I seek
To keep my eyes on Him,
Things in this world try to pull me down
Without Him my chances are slim.

Chances are slim that I'll see the good Lord
If I don't get my grip,
For the pride of life and the lust of the flesh
Will surely make me slip.

So I must persist and hold on to You Lord
For within Your Word there's power,
For I seek to keep my eyes on You
For You are my strong tower.

I cannot get involved with the pleasures of this world
Meant to pull me away from God's grace,
For if I do, sin will abound
And I'll be all over the place.

So I must persist, it's important to me
There is no contemplation,
I'm here to please God and keep my eye on the prize
Spreading the Word across this nation.
