Part of the Whole
The body of Christ is not just one
Who tries to do it all.
Instead the body consists of many
Each one who is answering their call.
We each must do our specific job
According to our gift.
Working together on one accord
We give each other a lift.
It’s when we do what’s meant for others
That throws us out of line.
We get confused and have to ask
“Is that your job or mine?”
Just like the various parts of our body
We want to do much more.
The mouth can’t smell and the eyes can’t hear
They know what they’re made for.
Just remember we’re all in this together
Each one is part of the whole.
With Christ at the head as we do our jobs
We’ll finally reach our goal.
