Useless Tokens
Having conversations about death
face to face
in a smoke tainted room
with a black cat twirling around these legs
Staring into ice blue incredible eyes
filled with yearning and pain
talking about people who have passed
gone from our very lives
Please, no more tears
I've shed enough of this soul
need to feel control
not the emptiness of a black gaping hole
Going back to a nameless house
filled with animosity
from mismatched spouses,
kissing in a car on an incline
He can't save me
only I can pick up the pieces
fractured and broken
letting go of useless tokens
Maybe we only have a little bit of time
so try to make the best of it
playing around in these dressing gowns
that honestly will never quite fit
Exposing myself again
now the world starts to crash inward
lost in the ebb and flow
this heart soars skyward
Don't really need approval
this is my very life
sharpened words and projected stones
never amounted to much of anything
