Disconnection
Sometimes the one that got away
is the person you need
in your life today
since no one cares about you, anyway
Struggling to just breathe
it seems as if they leave
just when a friendly hand
is the only help that one can stand
He was well liked
about an odd decade ago
but people have moved on
or even died,
he didn't even know
There was no fanfare,
just a black and white line
buried on an obituary page
that no one actually read
Sometimes he followed his horoscope
but he didn't honestly believe in it
since life at best is truly random,
struggling through this primordial trip
Not an expert
yet any nonsensical excerpt
making disconnected thoughts rip
from impossible means to a computer screen
Strangers coming out of the wood work
trying to decipher and devour
such mad scribbling’s
from the midnight hour
Taking the criticisms
the good with the bad
never knowing how to respond
without appearing pompous or mad
Having no real reason
to record all these thoughts down
This thought process
is admittedly backwards at best
Has the reader noticed yet
this ending has a distinctive voice
that the beginning lacks?
Here’s hoping this disconnection lasts
