Tell Tale Signs
I am the one
they feel they need to despise
kill all the goodness
on only the first try
Put those tainted words
straight into this mouth
then lie right back and observe
on some ratty old couch
Waiting for the tell tale signs
murder, I shudder to think
what else is submerged
at the bottom of an empty heart?
So ply your trade
confusion within a masquerade
everyone is hiding something
no chance of ever being accused of lying
Tell it to my face
that scrutinizes, then apologies
just to keep the drama at bay
like sharks, circling closer every day
No guilty pleasures
or selfish self sacrifice
just a throw of the dice
hoping that will honestly suffice
They will never silence me
until I'm buried deeply
beneath the tangled roots
of some nameless tree
All of this drama
a wisp of clouded memory
lost in a never changing scenery
kissed with dust and decay
