The Saddest Reflection
It flows out of me,
this wonderfully wounded poetry
that trickles to a stop
until the next pointless break
where I'm robbed of my senses
and fueled with pointless hate
It takes me over
maybe I'm channeling
Someone is controlling
shouldn't there be chains rattling
or some important message
from the Great Beyond?
Somewhere on the other side of the pond
this water hopelessly drowns
while beckoning one
to step a little bit closer
take a good hard look
at the saddest reflection
a mirrored image
of your fucked up life
Certain thoughts to ponder
realizations to squander
trying to find a connection
a signpost to show the right direction
since so far I've lost sight
in this failing light
flickering on and off
like a light bulb filament
that suicides and implodes
Broken glass shards in these hands
slipping through the cracks
while its raining outside again
Rushing words that expel with a gasp
lines are forming
so write it down fast
or the image is fading
like a daydream
that dissipates all around you
when its attention span is severed
cut the cord
screaming like a new born
Welcome to the real world
