Unrequited Affairs
How long has it been
since I've gone to town?
cutting loose to impress the fools
spitting on the ground?
Sitting here in a metal chair
with hot air blowing at my back
a day off from neverending work
real life is what I lack
Wasting away
silence every day
while beneath the surface
this acidic muse just screams
The first day of summer
another reminder
that I still wear
decades old, thread bare clothes
She trapped him
not on any sort of pills
how the passion kills
for a cheap night of thrills
He plays games
treating his straight friend
like a piece of meat,
wanting to lay between the sheets
To be able to lip-lock
that incredible mustache grin
drowning happily
in some sea of sin, with him
Such pointless mating rituals
never quite habitual
these unrequited affairs
really getting nowhere
