No Middle Ground
No middle ground ever
a beautiful life severed
holding grudges after all this time
he whispers sweet poison
to cloud your mind
looking at me like some enemy
that's fine, that's fine
maybe some other time...
Watching a ballet dancer
brought tears to these eyes
ripping off worn clothes
disgust emphasized from head to toe
Some can see the inner beauty
but I'm stuck on this ugliness
forming from the corners
of a spreading smile
This sugar is fueling me
out of whack chemistry
not sure if I said this before
but there's nothing to prove anymore
Keep on moving ever forward
towards the latest horror
Yes, watching the evening news
is a maddening affair
People don't honestly seem to care
it's step on whomever
and the claws are out tonight
civility is ancient history
apparently not part of the 21st century
Forced myself to walk down
all these manicured streets
staring at empty windowpanes
feeling a definite strain
Might as well be a ghost town
for all the interaction I received
even the one way traffic
moved swiftly away from me
Crashing into a well of emptiness
keeping this head above the line
struggling to find a common ruse
just light the matches already
and spark the fuse,
exploding over the skyline
as the day descends into another night
