Within A Barren Life
I have forgotten myself now for the larger part of a decade gone by.
Tomorrow much like yesterday has little comfort or solace to impart.
Too many sorrows have amassed to give me pause or a celebrant cause
So few victories were gained in these slumbering years with so much lost
Then by chance an elusive event strikes down upon my head.
With open eyes I observe a sudden brilliant flash painted with a colored blast.
From here reigns the kings on high from their lofty temple perch.
They throw down, like gold coins, trinkets for those whom are quick to catch.
My heart is pierced when the rain pours down like a thousand salty tears.
Lightning strikes right from over me as the desert storm mounts
All sounds are stark while the tense air teems with an electric charge.
I shall sleep well tonight graced by a passing gift within this barren life
Tomorrow much like yesterday has little comfort or solace to impart.
