Phantoms
Horus would often meet Hieronymus
At the highest point of Brocken Mountain.
There they once sat beneath a November cloud
Parting before the Sun's last call.
After debating the numerical value
Of an ancient Draconian symbol.
They broke out in a laughter,
Loud in self parody.
Then chimed out in unison,
'Are we not phantoms that
Dreamed ourselves people,
Lest we be people who lost our dreams
And awoke phantoms.'
