The Voices Are Calling His Name
The air outside is wispy,
Tugging his fixed attention away
From a young life of play and smiles,
Friends, comic books, and games.
His look grows solemn and pensive
Like he's over polishing a coin
Inside his mind that has passed
Through a few too many hands.
September has settled on his
Summer's golden days of youth.
A storm front comes that states,
'The warm southern winds no longer blow.'
The voices are calling his name
Though he is ever reluctant to listen.
Still they are crafty and conniving,
With high pitched children shrills;
that cross the cerebral cortex
To quickly to clearly sort out.
He looks at me with an empty affect,
As if saying,'There is something I am
Supposed to do, but I don't know what it is?'
He tries to hide his starled senses
To save me hurt or worry over the woes
He is only beginning to know.
He adds, 'I am empty inside and I don't
Know where I can find out what it means.'
The voices are calling his name and I will
Fight the good fight with hope and a prayer,
To not let them lay claim to my son!
Tugging his fixed attention away
From a young life of play and smiles,
Friends, comic books, and games.
His look grows solemn and pensive
Like he's over polishing a coin
Inside his mind that has passed
Through a few too many hands.
September has settled on his
Summer's golden days of youth.
A storm front comes that states,
'The warm southern winds no longer blow.'
The voices are calling his name
Though he is ever reluctant to listen.
Still they are crafty and conniving,
With high pitched children shrills;
that cross the cerebral cortex
To quickly to clearly sort out.
He looks at me with an empty affect,
As if saying,'There is something I am
Supposed to do, but I don't know what it is?'
He tries to hide his starled senses
To save me hurt or worry over the woes
He is only beginning to know.
He adds, 'I am empty inside and I don't
Know where I can find out what it means.'
The voices are calling his name and I will
Fight the good fight with hope and a prayer,
To not let them lay claim to my son!
