Unspoken
Two score and six,
our world stood silent,
words escaped the witness,
emotions left unspoken.
Your heart grew colder,
with each beating pulse,
my sight narrowed, dimmed,
so much left unspoken.
Ink quill dry,
a well ran empty,
every effort to leave,
nothing left unspoken.
Your eulogy read,
cheeks wet by tears,
our good-byes undone,
forgiveness left unspoken.
My prayers contain,
an eternal hope and wish,
we’ll cross paths again,
leaving nothing still unspoken.
No tears in heaven,
harps and chords abound,
memories clouded by joy
did we leave anything unspoken.
“Let no debt go unpaid, except for that
of loving one another; and never fully
repay that debt.” Romans 13:8
