Once more, almost
One day during a quiet meditation
I had a profound hallucination.
My soul soared over a distant ocean.
There, I could not see apparent motion.
Down I fell into a mysterious deep.
First blue, then black water closed over twilight sleep.
At last, I came to rest within the dark.
Sinister and grim there I disembarked.
A revelation lighting emotion
Was there to reap in an ancient ruined park.
Shadows moved, dim, obscure in devotion.
And so made the benighted meaning stark.
Then, before I could comprehend,
The vision faded into an end.
As always, wisdom flees
Never to please.
