Prelude To A Nightmare
Whisper,
breathe deep, inhale the moment.
Stand tall as if unstoppable against all.
Grasp the feeling, strangle the fear,
and fight for something more than life,
more than death.
Caress,
extend your hand, as an open invitation.
Embrace the beast, that thrashes for release.
Give in to the want, the dream, the pleasure,
the idea that you are free and capable,
to decide.
Cower,
fall to your knees, beg for atonement.
Your castle of trash, now burns to ash.
Intentions of saints, become actions of demons,
and those you love, give their lives,
to save you.
Memory,
allows you to relive, to be enslaved.
Your life now stands still, shadowed by the thrill.
The cold sweat on your brow, the tremble in your hands,
the visions of what might have been, and what are,
feed on you.
