MODERN DAY MOUTHS OF BABES
I heard my two year old son say “Daddy Please”,
Just as I turned the station to get the most recent news.
I flipped through the channels with persistence and great speed,
All to get to the needed opinions and popular world views-
A trusted informational flow, to satisfy my most urgent needs.
My two year old son, again, said “Daddy Please”,
As he moved forward to push the button to turn it All off.
His words, although basic, in regards to the English language-
Led me to thinking, and thrust me forward to turn it All off.
For I had been stuck there for hours, leading me now to great anguish.
Making me ponder on the sinful and abusive nature of misguided man.
Causing me to consider the true value of an ever-present, real God.
Resulting in the appreciation of the fact that there still is a functional, salvation plan-
To encourage us all to achieve, within those elevated realms that we deem all too hard.
Saving us from those sins that we find ourselves gravitating toward with ease-
Which contain just enough promotable, absolute, unrestricted pleasure.
Thus, placing us in the middle of unpredicted dramas that slowly move us into undesired, elongated, tragic, soap opera style parts-
All while we look for our self-worth, and some purpose on earth through all of this tainted, worldly treasure.
And then my two year old son interrupted my tremendous thought, with his final plea-
As he hugged my neck and said, “Daddy Please, turn it All off”.
