    THE PREACHER'S CADILLAC

    Place to Place.
    Many stops, stories, and lives.
    Bible open, scripture ready.
    Then some one Dies.

    Unmovable seat, ordained for life,
    There go God’s Man.
    Slowly moving, down the road,
    Sharing the Master’s Plan.

    Funerals, Weddings, Bible Study,
Don’t forget the Sick and Shut-In.
    Plenty of work, to complete
    Before the Days of end.

    American made, Beautiful Car,
    Prized possession; Cadillac.

    Basic Black, Custom LAC,
    Chrome from hood to trunk.
Just to drive The Preacher Man,
    Humbly taking The Plan.

This is great. It made me think of my pastor who though he has a day off on Monday always seems to be on call. My father is from Georgia and the parishoners there were always joking about the ministers big Lincoln, Buick or Cadillac. I say right on the men of God deserve all that and more.

This is a great poem!! So many people want to criticize the clergy for having nice cars, but like you so eloquently pointed out, they are needed in so many different venues, and they dare forget no one. Everybody expects the preacher to show up for everything, but they would rather he did it in a Ugo than in a Caddy. Well written. I enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing.

I like your poem at first i didn't understand it but i read it again.good poem

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
