FOLLOWING MOMMA TO CHURCH
Walking out the front door on this wonderful Easter Sunday,
As my daddy rolls over for the second part of his normal sleep.
“Rest”, he stated was needed for him to fulfill his obligations on Monday.
I just couldn’t understand how he could simply skip past this important,
Wonderful Sunday.
As if he had some other pre-planned, fruitless appointment he was forced to keep.
Something more important than the teachings of, Jesus The Christ, he seeks?
So as I often did, I rushed and grabbed the hand of my beautiful mommy,
As she escorted me out of our house toward the Lord’s Grand Sanctuary,
Disappointment moved randomly through the walls of my small, full tummy.
My mind ran until it grew tired, and the thoughts became too scary.
Would we ever worship as a family again?
Or is this where the beginning of the end begins?
All too much for me to understand at the growing age of eight,
My daddy missing church Sunday after Sunday-
I just really, really hate.
