    Poem Commentary

This is actually a song, my first song, and you don't really have the music, because I don't know how to write music. But even so, if you ignore the chorus marks, it's a good poem.

    Love in the Classroom

    Girl, I really loved you
    Back in Room 183,
Girl, I loved how when you laughed
how it came out like a squeak

I'd always get lost in your eyes
And I always wanted to be at your side
Baby, 'cause you were my great pride
    and because I loved you

You were the one that's meant for me
And baby, I want you to stay please
The children laughed and they would tease
    'cause baby I loved you

And our time together, I won't forget
How lucky could a boy like me get
They'd just call you the Teacher's pet
    But baby I loved you

    Girl, we met in Science
this was all so new to me
    I knew nothing of anatomy
But I was working on chemistry!

Now it's true I will admit
I had no clue about any of it
So much was new, A field trip
    when Baby I loved you

You sat in the back in your little cage
    Running that wheel everyday
I fed you once a week, it was okay
    'cause baby I loved you

    Then through the teacher's confirmation
You were gone to my frustation
He said it was a vacation
    But baby I loved you

    Where did you go
    Where did you wander
    Baby, I pondered
    It worries me so
    Because you had a nack
    To be fuzzy and furry
    I'll leave in hurry
    If you ever come back

    <chorus>

    Where did you go
It is my only sole wish
Did you join my gold fish
When he went down the bowl?
Daddy says he had to leave
To a pet happy fun-filled spa
    And that he's traveled abroad
    To whereever you'll be

You were the one that's meant for me
And baby, I want you to stay please
The children laughed and they would tease
    'cause baby I loved you

And our time together, I won't forget
How lucky could a boy like me get
They'd just call you the Teacher's pet
    But baby I loved you

You were the one that's meant for me
And baby, I want you to stay please
The children laughed and they would tease
    'cause baby I loved you

    Now I'm lonely and alarmed
You're love has caused me so much harm
But hey, I heard next year they've got Ant Farms
    So maybe I'll love them...

    As much as you...

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
