Poem Commentary

Seriously, I got a 91. I am usually so bad at that sort of stuff, you know?

Innocuous Affirmations of True Visionaries

I once cut myself
in a poem
and my teacher said
that it was such a good poem
and so she gave me a good grade
and it rhymed
like, all the time
and my boyfriend who writes
said he liked it

he raped me
in a bad dream I had
I told a friend
and she said I should write that down
she said I should be a writer

I've never done drugs.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
