Poem Commentary

So, here's another poem about are need to make metaphors out of everything. I wonder why those curtains keep showing up?

A Household of Utility

The Window of Oppurtunity is closing,
But that's okay, the door of ingenuity is not locked,
It is hiding safely behind the wall of obscurity,
And the well beyond the kitchen floor of purity,
Don't worry of the curtains of juxtaposing,
They are there to keep the Windows of Oppurtunity well stocked,

Do not pay attention to the ceiling fan of trends,
Nor to the toaster of relations, which bares a smile towards the curtains,
Sat comfortably on the Counter Top of Expectance
Near the Refridgerator of Acceptance,
Which hopes the Oven of Responsibility will amend
But only the Lemon Squeezer of Omniscient knows for certain,

Tossed lightly in the Dish Washer of desires
On the other side of the Dryer of Reality, not one to question the wall,
Nor is he to question the Chairs of Social Boundries
Or Table of Centerfold, held astounding,
To the Lazy Susan of Schedules, fit for liars,
And the Washing machine of Personality, with some curtains in it's haul,

The Windows of Oppurtunity have closed
As not for the draft to effect the Household of Utility
Held in high regards with a Radio of Outmoded
And the Computer of Surveillance, which toated
By the family, what family, who needs one of those?
The windows is but a window for which only curtain things can see.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
