Poem Commentary

this is a sequel to Questions, and even though i have a few more answers than i did before, there are still many questions yet unexplained.

Answers

"Why tomorrow?", I asked some time ago,
searching for answers to things i didn't know.
Far too many questions I wanted meaning to.
Some still remain unanswered; others were accrued.
The band still plays with the sound of my life,
but the cacophany of the past is less filled with strife.
Love is still fleeting, but yet my heart soars,
for it's devoted to a blond who's four foot four.
I learned my part, the lines well spoken
from a heart that, now healed, was hopelessly broken.
'The One' came along, I decided to settle,
but her heart was corrupt, she began to meddle.
The lies and deceit, which in youth was my M.O.,
were cast down and buried, honor I did show.
Then my Bethany appeared from the din,
an angel from Heaven spawned from a creature of sin.
'The One', to whom I was faithful all the days of our pairing,
became lascivious, hate-filled; done with love and caring.
Yet, try as she might to take my baby away,
it was her undoing, and I have Bethany to this day.
I trusted in time, gained a few answers.
I'm not nearly as bruised, sometimes I'm a dancer.
So! Tomorrow came, followed by many more.
The cherry bowl is emptier as it falls to the floor.

thank you very much. i am glad that you liked it, it means a lot.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
