Poem Commentary

this is my newest work of poetry, written straight from my heart onto this site. it is about a person i never in my life thought i would be able to reconnect with, a person that i have never stopped loving and i thank God every day for the ability to be given a second chance with her. so many mistakes were made the first time around for us, i only wish things to be smoother now that we have matured and grown in our own hearts and minds. i hope this is inspirational to others to seek out someone they still truly love and cherish and try to give it another shot.

Somehow the darkness returned a piece of me,
a part that I had thought forever lost.
It took with it the sadness only I let others see,
giving me back my joy without a cost.
The love I knew in youth has returned to my life,
but can only be enjoyed in small hours.
Still we look ahead to a future without strife,
to share the lost time that once was ours.
She is more beautiful than ever before in my eyes,
yet she hasn't changed at all in my mind.
Year after year will pass as other's love dies,
but ours proves to be one of a kind.
If God grants me one thing I ask for in prayer
it will be for she and I to become one.
And even if that means that we both might be grayer,
it won't matter,  our sadness will be gone.

I enjoyed reading this. I can relate to the old love that got away, then getting a second chance. I've got one I wish I could get a 2nd chance with.

thanks, it is a real shock to me to have her back in my life again, after all this time. it is like nothing has even changed after all these years, we just seemed to fall right back into our old rhythm. as for yours, have you tried looking her up, or is it a lost cause? i thought mine was, until she found me. i hope you get that chance one day, everyone deserves at least some kind of happiness in their lives.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
