The Immortal
Do not speak to me of God, it does not touch my heart
I only know what's in my hand so I can do my part
No amount of prayer will soften any blow
But in my heart of hearts, I will endure I know
There is no sacred book on which I can rely
For all the books are made by men, and all are made to lie
I seek no mysterious Specter to bring me guilt or fear
I accept no nonsense. To life I hold on dear
I look to the Spirit in man. The Spirit exclusive of God
I accept no false religions. To man's heart I give the nod
So let me die in peace, Dear Heart - I know where I will go
And I'll return again to you - it's the one thing that I know
