    A poem for children - and other innocent Human Beans.

    The Humming bird

    Strange little humming bird
    You do not hum at all
    Jealously you guard your food
    Like you were ten feet tall

    The name you hold comes from your wings
    That beat so fast - they hum
    But it is the voice you have
    That sets them all to run

    Just think - if you really hummed
    What is the song you'd bring?
    Perhaps if we all knew the song
    We could all join in and sing

    An airy ditty. I've always found humming birds to be odd little things. Seems like they evolved on the wrong planet, or something. Of course, I've heard the same thing said about me... must be why I never leave the house without my birth certificate : )

    We have lots of humming birds around here. They are beauty on two wings and to see one without a feeder is rare i am told but they visit a tree near my house quite often . Love this poem you have done the bird well marie
