    Poem Commentary

I came across this written 16 days after my wife died from Alzheimer's. Perhaps sharing will somehow make it easier.

    16 Days

You are gone from me Beloved, yet it's not just you I miss,
It's what we shared together in our years of wedded bliss.
You loved to see the full moon, and I would awaken you at night,
And arm in arm we'd go on deck to share in the lovely sight.
And when the evening shadows would reveal the reddened sky
You would share with me the sunset with your ever watchful eye.
We had a hill of flowers, and through them we would roam,
And when we moved away, we had flowers in our new home.
Every day I think of you - you are so much a part of me,
And every day I miss you, though beside me you will be.
But sometimes in the long dark night, when I cannot fall asleep
I think of you Beloved, I think of you and weep.
We had so much laughter, and hug and kisses too,
I cannot think of me Dear Heart, without my thoughts of you.
I know you're not alone, you're with those gone before,
And I am left with loves' memories. I can not ask for more.

Thank you, earthly. The death of a spouse, or a child, never leaves. It has nothing to do with the reality, and everything to do with our loss. Life goes on, but ai speak not of Heaven.

Your sweet poem brings tears to my eyes. It done so lovingly well. BLess your heart, she must have been a wonerful wife and soul mate.I believe you will see her again. You'll see her now in the faces of love ones, in your memories and in your heart. Most of all she'll visit you in your dreams. When you awake you'll find her in your heart loving you still. When God comes there she ill be.with open arms.Such a beautiful poem. God bless you.

Thank you Betty. We never lose those we love through death. But it doesn't get easier either. Death is the greater dream.

Stryx, So heartfelt, so passionate, the aloneness is palpable. I have many poems written in this genre since I have faced this same loss. You may want to read: "Oh Cling to Me" and "Bellvue Falls" that I posted in the same genre as this. TY for sharing this. ginga

Thank YOU for the read, M
