Of Lust and Love

Poem Commentary

Many a man will slink off in silence to escape the consequences of their lust. The woman is left with the evidence. That baby is not his - but hers.

Of Lust and Love

Wives and daughters must always have fear
From men and boys who like to drink beer
For the male of our species think only to mate
Then to brag that he thinks he's so great

All men are brave until they get caught
Then they cry and are sorry when all comes to naught
And those ladies, our dear ones, must suffer the greed
And carry the babies, the result of the breed

It's always our women who somehow will find
That in all of the chaos they still can be kind
They raise the bastards and never let on
To their husbands or boyfriends that it's not their own

So a child is loved by two parents who care
And it doesn't matter if the sperm donor's not there
For the husband will love both Mother and child
And no one will know that the father was wild

A well written truth in commentary on one of those saddest of sad old stories...;)

Mankind hasn't learned much in all his time on earth. It is the same old story - just different names. Thanks for reading.

A delightful rhyming write that exposes the humanness of the male of our species.

I wonder, if left to our own devices - would we all become like Johnny Appleseed? Planting here - and there?

And yet life is grand compared to what some women go through. They walk around on tenterhooks knowing more than likely they will die at the hands of their husband. All he has to do is say she was up to no good, without even giving evidence. Any man who kills his wife in public becomes an instant hero! I agree with your beautiful poem, that you wrote with grace and sensitivity. Great job once again, poet.

Sounds like you are explaining sharia law. I hope men are not held up as heros in this country. I am pleased with your visits, L.

Love always decides our fate, doesn't it? Thanks for the viewing.

We'll never know how often that story is never told. But we must always think of the child...Glad for your comments, M.

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.
