    Just like sand castles that children build there stands a celestial castle far greater than any

    Sand Castles and Celestial Palaces

    I see the memories are footprints in the sand
    I remember seeing your precious small hands
    crafting a beautiful sand castle on the beach
    your embrace never seemed to far to reach

    Sand castles and celestial palaces you've built
    never as wonderful as the ocean I have felt
    the sweet salt I taste on my aging skin
    brings me back to my childhood again

    The greatest castle stands in the stars
    beyond the milky way, on heavens boulevard
    inside pearly gates, on streets of gleaming gold
    I want to paint a picture you can always hold

    sand castles and celestial palaces will stand
    memories of playing as a child in the sand
    breathing in the sweet , sweet ocean air
    I can feel your beauty, feel it everywhere

    The ocean seems like thousands of glistening diamonds
    being tossed by the whipping winds of ragin' storms
    never erasing the footprints that you have set
    these memories are something I can never forget

    rhyming shmyming... sometimes emotion takes precedent over form... in this i think you captured the feeling even if the flow is undigestible for some. :-)

    Your poem is good and a poem need not rhyme to be a poem; that is just one component; however, once you commit to a rhyme scheme, edwinmeyer is correct to say it loses some clout at the end (personally; I like free verse as well as any type of poetry). Neithertheless, this poem has is very beautiful and meaningful and worth the read. Walk in love, peace and freedom.
