Pajama Party
Bravery born of false bravado
Soldiers patrol into the night
Through the jungle slash and burn
Searching for a heros fight
But black pajama'd evil demons
Cull their numbers one by one
Take from them a warriors pride
And make then pray this war be done
Young men led to battle weary
Fighting a war with no real purpose
Sent to die by politicians
And villified by the populace
From the safety of home so far away
Their peers condemn this evil war
Then hold innocent soldiers to account
For atrocities committed on this shore
No one man can be held to blame
For fear has become this soldiers master
Fear of an enemy which can't be seen
This black pajama'd demon in alabaster

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
