Paid In Full

Travelling the wrong way on a one way street
Done things which filled me with regret
Said hatefull words I won't repeat
Committed sins I never shall forget

Took short cuts in life I thought were right
Cutting corners when I thought I should
But now that the end is near I see the light
I'd change many things if I thought I could

In love and lust I was too cavalier
So many broken hearts left behind
My own broken heart the worst I fear
This final payment paid in kind

I know now it's far too late
To ease the hurt or stop the pain
If I could I would the damage sate
To rid me of the guilt and keep me sane

Though mired in guilts heavy weight
And laden with this burden felt
I'll make things right if not too late
And deal with the hand that I've been dealt
