Ever After
There was once upon a timewhen fairy tales came true.
You waltzed your way into my life
and we danced the whole night through.
The love we shared was all to real,
shining bright for all to see.
It didn't waiver over time
but kept growing naturely.
I was your Adam, you were my Eve.
I was your Prince and you my Princess.
We spent all our time together,
blinded by our happiness.
But ever after happened all too soon
and even fairy tales must end.
After plucking the apple from the tree
we both started to pretend.
Early on the seasons turned.
We forgot what really mattered.
The candles flame just barely burned.
Our lives were torn and tattered.
When finally we both recognized
the flame was flickering out.
We banked the coals and fanned the flame,
Putting behind us all our doubts.
Now our love is a work in progress,
plant the seed and watch it grow.
Never taking the time to rest,
pulling weeds out as we go.
So now our fairy tale lives on,
no end to love in sight.
In each others arms till dawn
after making love all night.
