Battered Heart
Embittered tears upon velvety cheek, the trail of pain envisioned clear.
Streaming down tis clearly seen,
the pain he caused obscene.
The grief she feels is overwhelming,
buried deep within her soul.
Torn from breast her battered heart,
thought never to be whole.
Contemplating quick release,
she counts the days till death is due.
She cries, "Dear God, take me please,
into your loving arms."
When her prayer is left unanswered,
ignored it seems, her only hope.
Resolve is strengthened and her tears stop
as she reaches out for the hangmans knot.
Placing the noose around her throat,
she ties it to the staircase rail.
Jumping down from this frightning height
and crashes to the floor.
When he who caused her so much pain arrives,
and sees her lying bent and broken,
he runs to hold her in his arms
and cries out in his pain.
Lord bring her back to me alive.
I shall love her through eternity.
Never again shall I cause her pain
but cherish every moment.
Upon his lap she lightly stirs.
Her eyes start to flutter and open wide.
Her overwhelming grief is lifted,
as she looks him in the eye.
At peace her battered spirit rises,
above the pain which he had caused.
Final comfort she's been given
and from her pain is driven.
