Country music lover
I'm a country music loverborn and raised on rock and roll.
I love to shoot tequila,
now and then I'll smoke a bowl.
I partied with the best of them
back in nineteen sixty nine.
Crashed the gate at Woodstock
and had a hell of a good time
Watched Hendrix jam and Janis slam
a bottle of southern comfort.
Joe Cocker didn't give a damn
about the war in Vietnam.
We partied there for three long days
whether we were rich or poor.
We took with us those memories
when we went off to war.
In patriotic dedication
draft boards opened up their doors.
Rich kids got an education
While poor boys went to war.
The generals sacrificed our lives
while politicians told their lies.
No one seemed to give a damn
that a generation had nearly died.
Expecting a heroes welcome
those that could stood proud and tall.
But when all was said and done
all we got were nitemares and a "wall".
When those memories overwhelm me
I don't turn to rock and roll.
Still a country music lover
and that's all that soothes my soul.
