hero with a suitcase
Another trip home to Baltimore,
Another Greyhound trip to Frederick,
40 degree winter weather forgot my gloves
My daughters car will be fixed soon
My new grandbaby’s fine
His mother not so well
Stressed about money
I’ll watch the baby while she works
Everything will be okay
I cooked some beans, greens and roasted a chicken,
She’ll eat well until Friday
When I come back to Frederick
To see my daughter get her 10 year chip
She’s come so far you know
I have the time
I retired from the school system last year
Money’s tight but good
I’ll have everything I need
When I get back to the City
I’ll catch a city bus home
Its only a 3 block walk then
My 76 year old body will handle it
God will give me the health and strengh
I don’t quite know it
But I’m what he deems
An everyday hero.
