In One Fell Swoop...
A large oak tree silently stoodIn our yard in the neighborhood
There, the hunter would hide during the day
Amongst the branches he would stay
When the sun dipped below edge of the earth
And the moon appeared with a smile of mirth
The very large bird took up his perch
Where from this position he could lurch

From side to side so he could see
Far and wide, again he was free
To spy upon our family's antics
To enjoy watching without panic
The children were still sleeping
At this time before dawn, so silence was keeping
It is my turn to watch the puppies this morn
And mother dog cuddles her first born
As her four offspring bounced about
Then, just as the sun came out
The hunter, (an owl) did scoop,
Up one white pup, in one fell swoop...
