Heaven

I had been waiting for this moment
It took such an extremely long time  
Maybe I should not have waited , but- 
It's been such a dream of mine
I just couildn't  let it go

This dream began when I was young
As I gazed, mesmerized one night
At the moon looming high over-head
And stars that were scattered bright  
The awareness of how very little I know

To travel the skies deep into space
To experience the Universe unfurled
To know no bounds within God's reign
To come to feel the expanse uncurled
It's existence before my wondering eyes aglow

And, as my fading, useless life into
My empty shell imploded
My mind became a crowded flight
How the beauty of it exploded
At last, I realized He had saved it for "Best of Show"
