And 'The World's in Ttheir Hands?
My life looked to be all
about changing the diaper,
and washing the clothes,
of a kid that was hyper!
Many's the time,
I felt that falling in love
had let me down, with
approval from the Lord above
Oh, woe is me,
Oh, Woe is me!
I began to work
on getting a degree.
But, what I had done,
did not set me free
but bound me to
children for eternity.
Nary a moment,
from that time then
all my thoughts
included children.
From kids on the playground
to kids in the band,
from who's on the team,
to shoes filled with sand.
From falling off the swings and
breaking their arm,
to being super-glued in their locker
by a sweet girl with charm.
Then there were the children at home.
Told to do their homework,
But,.. the exciting adventures
that in little minds, lurk
Around the corner lies
a firecracker all dressed in red,
when thrown in a stove, it leaves
a spot on a carpet like on a bald head.
Outdoors you hear your one-year-pld
half buried in sand and giggling with mirth,
up to her waist in the sandbox, a hole,
meant to get to China, through the earth.
Before you know it many years have passed.
kids off having family of their own.
kids at school, now gone out of your 'ife
all of us, like kings and queens on our throne.
