Heart in Hand
She stood there in front of meWeeping into her hands
As if her heart was broken
And I am sure it was
Most little girls do
Get their hearts broken
When the big kids
Won't let them play
Her little legs can't keep up as...
The cousins take off for the playroom
Locking her out when they get there
It is hard being two years old
Knocking on the door softly
Then the knocks getting harder
Desperation sets in when....
When she realizes
They are not listening !
Calling out, finally crying,
Screaming "Let me in....."
She only wants to be included, but
At two, you are not always welcome...
You slow things down,
You tell on them, when you are two
You are not old enough.
Standing in "Gama's" room
Sobbing, her face in your hands
Tears pouring out between her fingers
She hears the lock click
The lock from the playroom door
Admittance has been granted
She is allowed into the inner sanctom
And... All is right with the world....
