Shades of Kevin
At first there's pale orangeWith a soft , hazy glow
It is the first sign of cognition
That there is something to know
Next the shade deepens and darkens to red
As awareness takes hold
And color covers his head
Some adventure is about to unfold
Then the full blush of Kevin
From forehead to chin takes place
A sweeping hue of red covers him
Ears to nose, all over his face
It became a ritual for the class
To tease him and, then,
To sit back and wait
For the "Shades of Kevin" to begin
The teachers all knew
When mischief was about
They would just peruse
"Shades of Kevin" to sort things all out
Then everyone would sit back
Wait for the fireworks to start
For the "Shades of Kevin" warned them
Of impending adventure we were about to embark
So, one fond memory we'll have
Of our school days of old
When we'd tease him mercilessly
To watch "Shades of Kevin" unfold
