The Final Good-Bye
I look at you in the bed,
wondering if your pain is bad,
wondering how long it must take,
for God to finally give you a break,
I know your time is near,
but you always told me not to fear,
I look at you and begin to cry,
and begin to ask,
"WHY, GOD, WHY?"
I pushed and pushed for you to last,
but knew in the end you weren't able to and would leave so fast,
I look at the line that's oh so straight,
and say my final good-bye before it's too late,
I held your hand until the end,
I cried out in pain and sobed after you left,
you looked like you were sleeping,
but still I kept weeping,
but as I stared at you without a doubt,
I knew he took you home safe and sound,
I wanted to say and beg please wait,
but the Lord our God said it was too late,
There was nothing else that I could say,
To keep you here for one last day,
I never wanted to say goodbye,
I wish that this was all a lie.
wondering if your pain is bad,
wondering how long it must take,
for God to finally give you a break,
I know your time is near,
but you always told me not to fear,
I look at you and begin to cry,
and begin to ask,
"WHY, GOD, WHY?"
