The Elephant Sitting In Your Living Room
You can ignore me all you want.
You can ignore the feelings of dread and doom
You can make believe there isn't a problem.
But
You can't ignore the elephant
sitting in your living room.
You can go about your daily routine.
You can say all your troubles are headed for the border.
You can whistle in the dark if you want to.
But
You can't ignore the gorilla
standing in the corner.
You can ignore all the letters and phone calls.
You can pretend you are sound asleep lying on the floor.
You can play hard to get all your life.
But
You can't ignore the vacuum cleaner salesman
knocking on your door.
You can bend- even break all the rules.
You can say you'll never back down.
You can say they can't hurt you when you work this hard.
But
But you can't ignore the tornado
in your own back yard.
