The Maroon Drums
Bumpity Bum! Bumpity Bum, goes the beat of the Maroon drums,Bumpity bum, bumpity bum we call our warriors to come, come, come,
We see the English men approaching our settlement on the hill,
We beat our drums to tell our warriors to fight, and fight until,
It's time for sunrise to begin another day of war,
But for the intruders that came to fight, should thank their luck stars.
Maroon men I honor you courageous and brave,
No matter where you fought for us, now resting in your graves,
Not affaid not giving up the battle for sudden flight,
You have been brave, fighting brilliantly from sunset to daylight.
Bumpity bum, bumpity bum, It's time to rest your swords,
Great warriors all guns seized must be oiled in one accord,
Today we fight with guns and swords great warriors so brave,
Tomorrow we fight with the enemies guns, unwillingly they gave.
Surrendering ye enemies from England and from Spain,
Never defeating us in battles or victory to gain,
We see you coming from a distance in morning noon or night,
Innumerable defeats that you've owned have caused your sudden flight.
We gaze at your surrender, joyful at your defeat,
Just gives us emancipation and graciously retreat,
So we beat our Maroon drums, with the beat of bumpity bum,
Bumpity bum, bumpity bum is the victory sound of our Maroon drums.
BUMPITY BUM!!!
