Purple Heart
Was it the wayI refused to let you win
This war between our hearts
That caused you to leave me
You see I was never
The person to fight back
You see I was never
The person to put on
A suit of armor
And protect myself
From your slings and arrows
From your right hooks and uppercuts
From your stabs in the back and shots through the heart
Was it the way
I refused to let you win
The way I stood up
The way I fought back
Were you taken aback
When I told you "No"
When I told you "Leave"
You see I was always
The person
That would scarfice themselves
Just to make sure
Your army wasn't harmed
In the process of war
You see I was always
The person
That would let you win
But when you decided
That I wasn't strong enough
That I wasn't brave enough
That I wasn't honorable enough
I packed up my medals
My purple hearts
That I wore proudly on my chest
And I refused
To let you win
