I Hope It Woke You
They say you're missing out on the best thing that ever happened to you. They say I'm far too pretty and sweet to be treated this way.
They say that I'm so nice, if I were their's, they'd treat me better.
But instead of thanking them for compliments, well-given;
I numbly stare into space and ask the air why you're aren't giving them to me.
I let myself rely on you for confidence, just once.
As if you could hold my invisible weight.
Sure, you talked of holding me for hours.
But the hours turned to silent days of hate.
Guys lose interest quickly.
But I never see the signs.
Couldn't you dial my number
and tell me that its over?
Be a man.
That's what you'll be in less than 7 months.
If you had a voicemail box,
on that joke of a cell phone you own.
It'd be filled with my stuttering.
At 2am on a school night.
I listen to it ring, just once.
Choke on a tear and click the phone shut.
I hope it woke you up.
