You're Really Not

You're Really Not

You’re here but you’re really not

Your story is all I’ve got

Memories from long ago

Anger was all I’ve ever known

You were taken from me too soon

Our relationship was still in its cocoon

Yet to turn into the beautiful butterfly

I just saw the cold cruel world fly by.

Sitting with things left unsaid

I never thought you could ever be dead

The word to me is foreign it seems

It always felt as if we were on the same team

Now here I am alone

I wish I could pick up the phone

To hear you speak just once more

To me this privilege could never be a chore

Until I see that day

I sit here silent and pray

That wherever you are you is safe and secure

And that once again I can feel your love so pure.
