Betrayal

Poem Commentary

My inspiration is my grandmother. She has taken care of me when no one else would.

Betrayal

As I sit here

Tears streaming down my face

I am being asked to betray

The one person in my life

Who truly loves me.

She is a lady who gets no credit

For the things she has done

She is a lady who has tended

To her own children

And their children.

When no one wanted me

She took my hand.

She tried to mend the holes

Within me

Tried to make me whole again

For this I owe her everything

For this I owe my life

For this lady I would do anything

But the one thing I won't do

Is betray her

I love this lady with all

That I am

I love with her

With all I can be

This lady who is so special

I call her Grandmother

But most of all I call her...

Mine

Nearing betrayal, but not quite there. I am glad to know there are people who have a conviction of commitment that is deeper than a whim or the call to do something 'exciting'. I commend you for standing your ground to take your place next to her side. I am stirred, not shaken. Excellent (and good, too!)

Yes indeed the true penmanship, of a woman motivated within herself to write the words on this page that to me is beautiful poetry. The true essence in your words grabbed me deep into thought at the end.

What a beautiful & touching tribute to that loving woman who gave you your life back. How proud that lucky lady must be that you can tell of your love for her so eloquently

your grandmother has helped you become the passionate writer you are today Alexia. your love for her is neverending and it's something to be proud of. very inspirational. great work

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
