    What Does it Matter?

    What does it matter if you lose your youth?

    For age comes to us all.

    Beauty fades in all of us,

    And we've a long way to fall.

     

    What does it matter if you lose your love?

    For someone else will come along.

    What does it matter if your love has died?

    There's always a new poem or song.

     

    What does it matter if you lose your soul?

    Did you have it from the start?

    Was your life really that changed?

    Did it matter you lost your heart?

     

    What does it matter if you lose your mind?

    Your thoughts will at least be free.

    Would it matter if you couldn't think,

    Couldn't mourn the loss of me?

     

    What does it matter if you're drowning in tears?

    You'll soon have no more to shed.

    And once they stop you'll be forgot -

    You'll soon be left for dead.

     

    What does it matter if you lose your life?

    At least there'll be no pain.

    And maybe you won't be alone

    On your journey to hell and back again.
