The Tide
The tide washes in as I watch,
Soothing my mind.
Erasing all the traces of me
That I had to leave behind.
My footprints, my smiles, my tears -
All are lost in the tide's wake.
Blissfully taking the memories
Of those I had to forsake.
Like the tide I lived a lonely life,
A life of cold, wet tears.
But now the tide and I are one -
Never alone through all the years.
All through my troubled, lonely life,
I longed to be like the tide.
The tide was free, and I wanted that -
And I held back my tears, and sighed.
Now one with the sea I'm no longer alone,
A new life begins for me.
My past life - it's pain - stripped clean away,
I'm immortal, boundless, free.
