Poem Commentary

I wrote this about two years ago when I was hospitalized. Not sure where it came from possibly from being on pain medication but not sure.

This Is Life

What the hell is the true meaning of life
Is it constantly turning your back praying you don't get stabbed with a knife
Dreading the demons that haunt you at every turn
Wishing god could save you from that eternal painful burn

Finding false hope in everything we do each and every day
Taunting and hating the ones who choose to be gay
The sins that cause inflicting pain in the pit of our souls
Our lives serving in hell for our sins is our toll

The path to richeousness can never be found
But in the end, our lifeless bodies are the ones making the blood curdling sound
Reaching out for something in the dark
Just to reach onto the headless dog which barks

Sending shivers down our cracked backs from the whips of our master
Thoughts taunting us why didn't we listen to our pastor
To love all who have brought us pain
And in that you will find something for your soul to gain

An ever lasting love with the lord above
Or plummet to the depths of hell on the wings of a dove
Is there really a god or even heaven many ask
Follow god in your heart as if it weren't a task

And soon my brother you will find ever last peace
I mean after all these bodies are just a lease
We one day will out grow our human flesh
To either go to heaven or wonder in the pit of hells mesh

To be at peace or full of pain
That right there should tell you we all have something to gain
So next time if someone asks you do you believe in god
Don't laugh and turn away otherwise you will be killed with gods rod

To serve an eternal life in hell
For that you cannot sell

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.
