Pen
He stood there with his grill twisted up, I could see he was mad...
Pacing the block, his pants at a sag...
Holding a paper bag, on his waist he holds a mag... I gave him the only thing I had...
I gave him.....My pen
When I handed it to him, he gave me this look... Bit down on his teeth, but my pen he took... Saying to me, "I ain't got no book"... Feeling good inside, because my pen he took...
See he had his pants at a sag, hands on a mag with that paper bag...Ready to rob the bodega, to feed the babygirl he just had... Times were bad..
As he held my pen...
I could feel his pain, cause I was once there... That's why on this corner, my pen I shared... Just as they did for me, I'm showing I care...
I was once you kid, I walked your shoes... A stick up kid trying to feed my fam, like I had nothing to lose... No where to turn, no fam, no friends... Till someone stopped me, and shared with me...
Their pen.....
It opened my eyes, to see better ways... Expressing my feelings on paper, easing my days... Filling out applications, changing my ways... It showed meI'm better than that, my fam is worth more... I'm no help in prison, that much is sure... So take this number, you've just madde a friend... As handed to me, I hand to you.... My pen
